Create a link to an external site

Note Using a rich text object, you can create a link for a specific section of text. Links can also be triggered from the objects listed below, however, for these objects, the link is associated with the entire object, not a section of text.

The instructions below are for a rich text object. To create a link for the other objects, select the object then use the Hyperlink Hyperlink Button button on the main toolbar. Then follow the same steps as described below for the popup link window.

  1. Double-click the rich text object where you want to insert the link
  2. Highlight the segment of text you wish to link
  3. Click the link link button

  4. Type or paste the URL of the link you wish to launch

Create a link to trigger a SmartBuilder action

  1. Double-click the rich text object where you want to insert the link
  2. Highlight the segment of text you wish to link
  3. Click the link link button

  4. From the Protocol dropdown, choose global event
  5. Type a name for the event. In this example, the event name is "PHI"

  6. Click OK
  7. In this example, we'll show a shape containing a definition for PHI. To create this action, click the Control action category.
  8. Drag a When-do block onto the action canvas

  9. Click the Page category and choose the global event block

  10. Snap the global event block into the When-do block

  11. In this example, we want to trigger an action for an event called "PHI", so type "PHI" in the event name field.

    Note Global event names are case sensitive.
  12. Snap an action block into the socket to create a response. In this example, a shape containing the definition for PHI will be shown.

Create a link to send an email

Use this feature to allow the learner to launch their email client with pre-populated email fields.

  5. Choose Email.
  6. Enter required Email Address, and, if desired, Message Subject, and Message Body.
  7. Click OK.
